Jacque Fresco - Venus Project, Florida - 27 December 2008 Heat Lens
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 19:18:42 -0800 by justmemelanie

We visited Jacques Fresco and Roxanne Meadows, at the Venus Project in Venus, Florida, on 27 December 2008. In this section Jacque is discussing and demonstrating Memory Metal.http://www.the venusproject.comJacq ue Fresco is an industrial designer, author, lecturer, futurist, inventor, and a pioneer in the field of human factors engineering, based in Venus, Florida, USA. Fresco has worked as both designer and inventor in a wide range of fields spanning from biomedical innovations to totally integrated social systems. He believes his ideas would maximally benefit the greatest number of people and he states some of his ideas stem from his formative years during the Great Depression. In the mid-1970s, he started The Venus Project and the non-profit organization Future by Design together with Roxanne Meadows, that reflects the culmination of Frescos life work. To this day he writes and lectures extensively on subjects ranging from the holistic design of sustainable cities, energy efficiency, natural resource management and advanced automation, focusing on the benefits it will bring to society.A major theme of Fresco's is the concept of a resource-based economy that replaces the need for the scarcity-oriented monetary economy we have now. Fresco argues that the world is rich in natural resources and energy and that ? with modern technology and judicious efficiency ? the needs of the global population can be met with abundance, while at the same time removing the current limitations of what is deemed possible due to notions of economic viability. He gives this example to help explain the idea:"At the beginning of World War II the U.S. had a mere 600 or so first-class fighting aircraft. We rapidly overcame this short supply by turning out more than 90,000 planes a year. The question at the start of World War II was: Do we have enough funds to produce the required implements of war? The answer was No, we did not have enough money, nor did we have enough gold; but we did have more than enough resources. It was the available resources that enabled the US to achieve the high production and efficiency required to win the war. Unfortunately this is only considered in times of war." Fresco states that for this to work, all of the Earth's resources must be held as the common heritage of all people and not just a select few; and the practice of rationing resources through monetary methods is irrelevant and counter-productive to our survival.

MADDIE'S SONG! (MAKE YOU MINE BY VANESSA HUDGENS)http://www.y outube.com/watch?v=v 3gyA2W-6A0---------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- ---MB: Excuse me?Christy: You heard me. Go.MB: Young lady that is no way to talk to your father.Christy: *mad* What father?! You were never around! You were either high, on probation, or in jail! And you know it! You never cared! Why are you here anyway?! It's a Jonas Brothers concert, or are you to drunk to notice this isn't a bar.MB: Christina M-Christy: Just go. Now or I'll call security.MB: Fine. But I'll be back. *leaves*~After the Concert~Maddie: Guys that was amazing!Joanna: Seriously! Your best one yet.JB: Thank you.Joe: What happended to Christy?Maddie: On the bus. Jesse: *walks over* No luck. She's got that door deadbolted good.Kevin: What happended?Joanna: We don't know.Maddie: Some guy wanted to talk to her and she never came back.Joanna: So we went to look for her and found her on the bus.Jesse: But the door is locked and she won't open it.Nick: I'll go.Maddie: How are you gonna get in?Nick: Hey einstein, *holds up a key* we all have keys to the bus. Including you. *walks away**Kevin and Joe laughed but were instantly silenced by Maddie and Joanna's glares.*Maddie: Now why didn't I think of that?Jesse: It was kind of obvious.Maddie: *glares at him* Don't help.~With Nick and Christy~Nick: Christy!Christy: What?Nick: Open the door.Christy: No.Nick: Fine. *unlocks the door and walks in* Hello.Christy: How did you--Nick: Key. Christy: It doesn't matter anyway I'm never coming out. *sits down on the couch*Nick: *sits beside her and puts a hand on her knee* And why would that be?Christy: It doesn't matter. Nick: If it doesn't matter then why are you so mad? And refusing to leave?Christy: No reason.Nick: Come on baby. Talk to me.Christy: *looks at him* What's there to talk about? Other than my drunk drug addicted beyotch of a father is back to ruin everything. *gets up after she realized she had accidently spilled her guts and turns her back to Nick*Nick: *stands up* Wait, what? When?Christy: *tears forming, but she pushes them back* During the concert. After your suprise he came backstage but Big Rob wouldn't let him in so I had to go over there and he's back and I don't want him to be because he ruined everything and once my mom finally divorced him I thought everything would be better and it was but it never crossed my mind that he may come back top find me and he told me after I made him leave that he's coming back and now I'm scared!Nick: *hugs her tight and doesn't let her pull away* Everything's gonna be fine.Christy: *stops trying to pull away because Nick won't let her and she's already let a few tears fall so she buries her face in his shoulder and hugs him back* You don't understand! I don't wanna live that way again!Nick: You won't have too. I promise you that. I'll never let it get that bad again. Christy: It hurt to much Nick! He pratically ruined my childhood. The constant bail outs and him coming home drunk and him beating us it was to much!Nick: Did you try talking to him? Maybe he's changed.Christy: He'll never change! Stop trying to make me give him a chance! My mom did that all the time when he was in jail! *breaks free from Nick's grip* I'm not doing it again! I refuse too! You can't make me!Nick: Christy your in hysterics! Calm down. I'm not gonna make you do anything. Now breathe.Christy: *calming down* I can't do this anymore. I just can't handle it. *slides down the wall until she's sitting on the floor* *pulls her knees to her chest and wraps her arms around them*Nick: *crouches down in front of her and puts his hands on her knees* I'm gonna help you through this. I'm gonna do everything in my power to make it better. I can't promise you I'll suceed, but I'll try my hardest. Okay?Christy: *looks at him* Your not gonna run?Nick: *stands up and pulls her up* Why would I run? I love you. And that ring proves it. Christy: *plays with her engagement ring* Yeah, I guess your right. Nick: *kisses her* I love you baby girl. Christy: I love you too.~The Next Day, During Maddie's Concert~Maddie: Okay guys, I guess it's time to start wrapping things up--*Crowd groans.*Maddie: *giggles, starts her song*

EEinstein and Eddington (4/ )
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 13:33:56 -0800 by Laurawrzz

Set against the backdrop of World War I, the story follows how Einstein developed the theory of relativity while maintaining a relationship with Sir Arthur Eddington, a famed British scientist who was one of the few who understood it and informed it with theories of his own. (Yeah, I nicked that summary off of a site and it's RUBBISH! It's better than it sounds :D)Stars David Tennant as Sir Arthur Eddington and Andy Serkis as Albert Einstein.
