Borrowing Neighbors Internet With WRT54GL DD-WRT 19dbi drrectional antenna Ilegal Music Movie DownloadsWed, 07 Jan 2009 15:59:36 -0800 by shonerbonerBeing a network tech by profession Here is some tips and a quick demo of me at a friends place making the best of some ones wireless internet to download music, movies, programs ect.Laptop is hooked to WRT54GL router with DD-WRT firmware acting as a bridge hooked to an external 19dbi parabolic grid antenna. We did a site survey and found a open network and joined, next we did some antenna aiming to home in on the signal and started the downloads. Using a static 192.XX ip so you don't show up in the dhcp table this lets you mooch with out being too detectable. If your lucky the neighbors router uses the default password and you can go in and get your static ip into the DMZ zone for optimal downloading performance. If your paranoid about the RIAA, Neighbors, or their ISP you can use a mac cloning tool to mask your MAC and you can disable file sharing on your PC so you don't show up in the Microsoft networks. If you want to be stealthy download when they are not on the computer so their internet experience is never slowed down and they don't suspect anything until they pull their head out of their ass and start securing in that case just join another suckers WI-FI. Caution this may be considered illegal in your area check your local listings... Related: wrt54gl dd-wrt stealing internet borrowing wi-fi linksys bridging illegal downloads

AT&T HTC FUZE - Raphael Wifi IssueTue, 23 Dec 2008 19:25:46 -0800 by Kewlj1313This is a simple example of how the wifi on the HTC FUZE and or Raphael is flawed, the signal is severely hampered by simply placing your hand around the phone, in other words you can see in this video the signal ranges from somewhere around -60 to somewhere around -88.With hand covering back signal = -88 (or so)With hand holding phone on top and bottom (not covering back) signal = -60 (or so)Obviously the -60 signal isn't even that great of a signal, but I am only 2 rooms away from my router - about 35ft. The router is a Linksys WRT54GL running Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp1 (07/27/08) std.Just interesting I thought that depending on how you hold your phone, you could be hampering your signal to an unusable level.most unfortunate... :-\ Related: htc fuze at&t raphael

TimeBurner.netFri, 21 Nov 2008 00:23:29 -0800 by CardinS2Uthis is DD-WRT with Quality of Service (QoS) settings that I have set that works great. When I'm not using the internet intensively then bittorrent and other non essentials stuff can run freely. If I'm using VOIP, Gaming, and other priority list that I have set then utorrent/bittorrent are set at lowest. You can see how it drop and increase as I press test. Related: dd-wrt timeburner
