I’m not a literary critic, nor do I play one on TV, but I really enjoyed this book. I’m looking for a good story, and this is one. I love the rapport between the two main characters, and the plot was very compelling. I hope I don’t have to wait a year for the next one!

I enjoyed this adventure a lot.
I liked the world and the characters.
I immediately hated one characters only to be swayed into liking him later on. I also locked on to the two main characters right off the bat, they are a great team and it was good getting to know them better during the tale.
I like the fact that not all the questions were answered and gift wrapped. I’m also happy that a few of my questions will be answered later on in upcoming books.
I like the bits of racial and social tension, they added flavor and not in a ‘preachie’ way.
I look forward to the next books and I am also impatient to wait a year… :]

I love fantasy books, but I get why others don’t – often the description of the world simply overwhelms the story and if you’re not interested in that sort of thing, you’re left feeling you spent a lot of time getting through something that wasn’t satisfying. This author has managed to produce a story that is satisfying to dedicated fantasy readers and newcomers alike. There’s enough description of the world to transport you without overwhelming the plot. What a wonderful plot it is – it moves swiftly while providing twists and turns to keep things interesting. This book thoroughly transported me – my favorite part of an awesome book. I can’t wait for the next one to come out.

The plot was very well detailed and character development was extremely well thought out. The storyline is a continuous stream of action and intrigue. I would recommend this book to any fiction lover.

I will have to tell you that when approached by the wife of the author at a book event I was more than skeptical that this book would be any good. See we’d done the local author thing before and it was a horrible event. Turns out there is a huge difference between self-publishing and corporate publishing.
The characters in this book are just a true treat. They are real 3D characters that you can see acting out the parts of the book as you read. The plot is unique and original. There are new twists at every turn. You won’t want to put this book down…I didn’t.
I really think this is probably going to be a movie or tv series someday because it is just that vivid and good. I cannot wait for books 2-6 to come out.
If you like books set in this time period or fantasy books of any kind or just want a book with great characters and a few laughs I would highly recommend this book.
