McCain was born outside the U.S. in the Canal Zone. His parents were citizens of the U.S., just as Obama’s mother was a U.S. citizen.

If Obama would be ruled out because he was born outside the U.S. (even though his mother was a U.S. citizen), than it might create a precedent where McCain would also be ineligible as well as other children of those who travel and who live on military bases in foreign countries.

It’s sort of a moot point though.
