O.K. Obviously I read half of this book, and then I threw it back to the library…but really who reads this crap. Some semi-illiterate gospel-spouting escapist rednecks…I mean, all copies of this pseudo-biblical garbage should be flushed or trashed. If anything the authors of this book are going to hell,

capitalizing off the Old and New Testament, and patting it off too sound like trite, repulsive crap!…BLASPHEMY!

This is the third book in the Babylon Rising Series and the first one I have read. I hope the first two are better then this one. This book was a fast read for me, one afternoon. Not because it is a page-turner. But this was because of the choice of margins and typeset. In normal typeset the book would be half the number of pages.

This book our hero is Dr. Michael Murphy may be a renowned field archaeologist and professor. The way he is written he is part Indiana Jones and part James Bond. I find the character very unrealistic. Which is a shame for I feel it would have been more exciting a story if he wasn’t such a great spy and martial artist.

Now the part of the book that is interesting is our hero’s search to find proof positive that the Bible is literal. And we follow him on his quest into ancient Babylon. I do like that he is finding the proof he needs. And that it is part of a test he is not aware of. But the icing on the cake is that after he has seen proof positive, he loses it due to forces outside of his control. It is like OK here is the proof, and convinces the rest of the world it was real.

I found I could start with this book, the third in the series, and not be too lost. But the way this book ends on a cliffhanger. You have to read it before you should read book four. I prefer a series that does build upon the previous books, but can also stand alone in their own right.

Bought the book at Singapore Airport for something to read on the long flight down-under. Good premise and research for the end-of-times scenario. The author’s good intentions makes one think; thank you sir…but it was easy to put down between in-flight movies. Sorry, but the teen-age dialogue became boring. However, the author does take the trouble to anticipate questions about the Mid-East political stew-pot. But he dumbs-down the spiritual messages left for humanity in the old and new testaments. Many students would be better served without someone trying to define God’s work for them, because defining God naturally limits the Unlimited in the seeker’s mind. Also, dragging in Blavatsky and Besant with thinly disguised invalidation demeans their efforts to explain Christ Conscious communion with God. Even Judge Troward’s books explain how Christ Consciousness works to keep us on top of things, and how to understand messes like the Mid-East.

I wish all of you pseudo-intellectuals would get a grip and read the book for what it is–a piece of fiction based on the word of God (for all of you who don’t know, I am referring to the Bible). And some of you reviewers, and you know who I am referring to, are just plain nuts. After reading the reviews, I have come to the conclusion–yet again–that you just can’t please all of the people all of the time. If you are a Christian and want a really good read, read the entire Babylon Rising series.

An awesome extension to the previous books. My one and only complaint (well it’s really not a complaint) about the book is it builds you up, keeps you on the edge of your seat, and then….. leaves you right in the middle of a harrowing situation! What a cliff hanger!
